    Description

This is a vintage Apache Sunrise Ceremony dress. It is beaded front and back on buckskin with old hand rolled tin can cones (you can read the can writing on some of the cones). The top and skirt are separate. The skirt has a muslin section at the top with a drawstring waist. There is some damage to the muslin, as is to be expected in a dress of this age. I would guess it to be from anywhere from the 1950’s -1970’s.
The cones give the most amazing jingle sound. It’s almost magical to listen to. The leather and beadwork are all in excellent condition for the age of the dress.
These dresses are usually passed down within families because of the expense of the dress and the ceremony (if you are unfamiliar with the Apache Sunrise Ceremony, here is a link for more info: http://www.webwinds.com/yupanqui/apachesunrise.htm). Because of this, these dresses rarely come on the market.
This is a museum quality collector’s piece. Don’t miss an opportunity to own a piece of history!
