When the starter is activated the BATTERY SEPERATOR compares the voltage from both banks. If chassis battery is lower than the auxiliary battery bank the MBS115 Battery Separator will engage allowing the auxiliary bank to aid in vehicle starting. The start signal must be at least 3 volts to occur(Radioactive Car Audio gets many calls about after the Auxiliary battery was put in my car won't start). We hear every year usually right when the heat is at a high that the battery is going.
