Moccasins – Antique Apache Style Child’s
These Antique Moccasins feature a two strip beaded design on the vamp.  This design is common among Apache style moccasins. We believe they come from around 1900. The crafter used Braintanned Deerhide.
He or she stitched them together and did the beadwork with cotton thread.
Then he or she added edge beading to the flap and the cuff.
The crafter used Mustard, Clear Red and Clear Blue Seed Beads to create the design and edge beading. Rawhide soles cover the bottom.
A previous owner wore these moccasins. We offer them as antique collectibles. You can see minor bead loss, due to the deterioration of the beads because of their age. Small holes indicate where Leather Lacing may have been.  You will also find some small discolored spots.
These moccasins measure just about 6″ long x 2.5″ wide. They stand about 1.25″ high at the cuff.
You will find these a delightful addition to a moccasin or beadwork collection!
    One of a Kind!
These antique moccasins were made during the 1890s and feature a amazing multicolor beading design.
They are made with Indian tanned deer hide or most likely Buffalo hide with rawhide soles and sewn and beaded with sinew.
They are in great condition for the age with minor bead loss. They have been worn.
A superb addition to a moccasin or beadwork collection! One of a Kind!
Featuring Buffalo, Elk or deer brain
tanned leather with incredible bead work. These light leather moccasins are crafted out of genuine hide, and feature lots of beads, most likely the beads on these moccasins were traded for way back in the 1800's
they can be hung on the wall, or worn during your next pow wow or festival.
The word "moccasin" comes from an Algonquian Indian word (also spelled mocasin, mocassin, moccassin, or mocussin, depending on the language and transcriber), but that is only because Algonquians were the first Native Americans encountered by Europeans-- Indian moccasins were used as footwear from Sonora to Saskatchewan, and though the word moccasin is understood and accepted by all of them at this point, most Indian tribes have their own native word for this traditional footwear.
Moccasins protect the foot while allowing the wearer to feel the ground. The Plains Indians wore hard-sole moccasins, given that their territorial geography featured rock and cacti. The eastern Indian tribes wore soft-sole moccasins, for walking in leaf-covered forest ground. Moccasins are usually all brown, and the same color.
